Design proposal for KAHLA Porzellan GmbH
This industry is now reaching its end, we are going to create produtcts to having to create value around the product.
When we tipically think of resources we think of
materials and minerals, but a resource can also be aesthetic or cultural.
- KENYA HARA
This work is the practical application of the homonymous theoretical part of the MA Thesis. It is an example of how the reinterpretation of traditional elements attribute industrial products with character and conceptual content, while reinforcing the identity of their brand.
The industrial collaboration partner for this project is KAHLA/Thürin- gen Porzellan GmbH, and the project’s traditional background is based on the “Blau Saks” pattern - typical porcelain décor of the region - which is still produced today. The drill commission from the company was to design products that would complement their existing BBQ Collec- tion, for which abstract interpretations of the traditional motives are deployed as functional elements in each piece.
